Give Through Life Insurance
Leave a Legacy for Kids with Brain Tumors
Every day, children are diagnosed with brain tumors. Every day, PNOC researchers are working to find better treatments and cures. Naming PNOC Foundation as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy is a powerful way to extend your support to those children, at no cost to you today. One simple designation can fund the clinical trials, research breakthroughs, and treatment advances that give kids and families more time and more hope.
Life insurance gifts are 100% tax-deductible for your estate.
PNOC Foundation is a 4-star Charity Navigator organization and holds a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency.

What is a life insurance gift?
A life insurance gift is one of the simplest forms of planned giving. It requires no new policy, no upfront donation, and no changes to your current financial plan. You simply name PNOC Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary on an existing policy, and when the time comes, your gift goes directly to funding pediatric brain cancer research. It's a meaningful way to leave a legacy for children you may never meet, but whose lives your generosity will shape.
Three ways to give through life insurance
-

Name PNOC Foundation as a Beneficiary
Contact your insurance provider and request a beneficiary designation form. You can name PNOC Foundation as the primary beneficiary, a secondary (contingent) beneficiary, or assign a percentage of the policy's proceeds, leaving the rest to your family. It's a flexible, straightforward process that you can update at any time.
-

Transfer an Existing Policy
If you have a paid-up life insurance policy you no longer need — one whose original purpose, such as covering a mortgage or supporting dependents, has been fulfilled — you can transfer ownership of the policy to PNOC Foundation. In many cases, you may receive an immediate charitable deduction equal to the policy's cash surrender value. Please consult your financial advisor for your specific situation.
-

Take Out a New Policy Naming PNOC Foundation
Some donors purchase a new life insurance policy specifically to benefit PNOC Foundation. This can be a cost-effective way to make a large future gift, using modest annual premiums to create a potentially significant contribution. If you pay the premiums and name PNOC Foundation as the owner and beneficiary, those premium payments may qualify as charitable deductions. We encourage you to work with your financial or legal advisor to explore what works best for your estate plan.
-
Not at all. You remain in full control of your policy and can designate PNOC Foundation as a partial beneficiary, leaving the majority of proceeds for your loved ones. You can also name PNOC Foundation as a contingent beneficiary, meaning your gift only activates if your primary beneficiaries predecease you. You can update your beneficiary designation at any time by contacting your insurance provider.
-
The tax treatment of a life insurance gift depends on how you structure it. Death benefits paid to PNOC Foundation as a named beneficiary are generally excluded from your taxable estate. If you transfer ownership of a policy to PNOC Foundation, you may qualify for an immediate income tax deduction based on the policy's value. Because tax law varies by situation, we strongly recommend consulting with a qualified financial advisor or estate attorney. PNOC Foundation's EIN is 46-3152273.
-
If you've held onto a life insurance policy that no longer serves its original purpose, repurposing it as a charitable gift can be a smart, meaningful option. Many donors find that policies taken out decades ago, to protect a young family or pay off a home, now represent an opportunity to give back in a significant way.
