What Is A Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account you set up through a sponsoring organization, like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or a community foundation.
You contribute cash, stock, or other assets to the fund, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to the nonprofits you care about over time. Your funds can also grow tax-free while you decide where to direct them. It's one of the most flexible and tax-efficient ways to give, and recommending a grant to PNOC Foundation is one of the most impactful ways to use it.

Yes. PNOC Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, which means we are eligible to receive grants from all donor-advised fund sponsors. To recommend a grant, use our legal name, Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium Foundation, and EIN 46-3152273.
-
Yes. Most DAF sponsors allow you to set up recurring grants on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. It's one of the easiest ways to provide PNOC Foundation with sustained, predictable funding — which means our researchers can plan ahead and commit to longer-term studies.
-
Because your tax deduction is taken when you contribute to your DAF, not when you recommend a grant, you won't receive a separate tax receipt for grants to PNOC Foundation. Your DAF sponsor handles the deduction documentation. We always recommend consulting your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
-
Yes. Most DAF sponsors allow anonymous grants. If you'd prefer your grant to remain anonymous, indicate that when recommending the gift through your sponsor's platform. If you have specific questions about anonymous giving, contact us at info@pnocfoundation.org.
-
Minimum grant amounts vary by DAF sponsor, not by PNOC Foundation. Check with your sponsoring organization for their specific requirements. We gratefully accept grants of any size.
-
If you'd like to direct your grant to a specific area of PNOC's work, please contact us at info@pnocfoundation.org before recommending your grant. We'll do our best to honor your wishes and ensure your gift goes where it matters most to you.
